CVCAN Networking Meet Up Recap: Building Connections, and Creating Opportunities – Dune Room, Indio

What began as a simple networking gathering quickly turned into an inspiring evening filled with new faces, fresh ideas, and meaningful community connections. Hosted at the Dune Room in Indio and proudly sponsored by CVCAN members, The Center for Employment Training (CET), and Pabst Labs, the event welcomed a diverse group of attendees from across the Coachella Valley, including several new Indio residents eager to connect with local businesses, community leaders, and members of the cannabis industry.

The turnout exceeded expectations, and the energy in the room was undeniable as professionals from a variety of industries came together to network, exchange ideas, and explore opportunities for future collaboration.

Dune Room owner, Ron Mesh, expressed his excitement and appreciation for  thestrong attendance and positive atmosphere throughout the evening. Encouraged by the success of the event, Ron shared his enthusiasm for hosting future networking opportunities that continue to bring the community together.

A highlight of the evening was the involvement of CET. Beyond their support of the networking mixer, CET’s Executive Director, Melissa Corea, showcased their valuable workforce development programs, which provide free vocational training opportunities in fields such as HVAC, electrical work, and other skilled trades. These programs are available not only to individuals working in the cannabis industry but also to their children, creating pathways to rewarding careers and long-term economic growth for local families.

CVCAN is incredibly grateful for CET’s partnership and support. Collaborations like these demonstrate the power of bringing industries together to create opportunities that extend far beyond business networking. We look forward to continuing to work alongside CET on future initiatives that strengthen our workforce and community.

Another memorable moment came from new CVCAN Board member Erick Lemus, who shared a passionate message about the importance of expanding community engagement throughout Indio and the greater Coachella Valley. Erick spoke about the opportunity to make history through collective action—creating cannabis-friendly communities and welcoming spaces where people can gather, collaborate, and remain connected as the industry continues to evolve.

His message resonated with many attendees, highlighting the importance of unity and cooperation across city lines and industry sectors. As the cannabis community continues to grow, so does the need for strong relationships, open dialogue, and partnerships that encourage positive economic and social impact.

The event also showcased the growing diversity of organizations interested in participating in the cannabis conversation. It was exciting to see businesses and community groups from a variety of backgrounds represented, including AtWork, the Manga Café, Frontline Star CPR, and several other organizations spanning multiple industries throughout the Coachella Valley. Their presence reinforced the idea that cannabis is no longer operating in isolation but is becoming an integrated part of the broader business and cultural landscape of our region.

As the evening came to a close, one thing was clear: the future of cannabis advocacy, business development, and community engagement in the Coachella Valley is bright. Events like this remind us that meaningful progress happens when people come together, share ideas, and work toward common goals.
